Yesterday, we kicked off our Korea Business Workshop series in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College in City of Kokomo. This new program is designed to assist Korean businesses with topical discussions on supporting and growing their businesses in Indiana. BREAKING: City of Westfield, Indiana Mayor Scott Willis will be leading a delegation to South Korea. Willis said the purpose of the trip in March will be to strengthen relationships and explore potential economic development opportunities. The International Center (Indianapolis) and the Korea-Indiana Partnership will be assisting the City on implementation of the trip. https://lnkd.in/g-aJpu-V

Yesterday, we were delighted to visit soulbrain MI and their new state-of-the-art facility in City of Kokomo. Headquartered in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, Soulbrain is a global leader in the production of electrolytes for the lithium-ion battery segment. The tier one supplier has invested $75 million to construct and equip the fully operational 30,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.

Financial Times: "The City of Kokomo is one of more than a dozen towns across the US that have been transformed and revitalised by an influx of investment from South Korea. The transformation can be seen on almost every street corner. Seven Korean restaurants have arrived in the past year in a town where none had previously existed. New hotels catering to Korean expats offer slippers and chopsticks, and the country club is undergoing renovations to attract Korean golfers.: https://lnkd.in/gs68sphk

Last month, The International Center (Indianapolis) & our newly formed Korea-Indiana Partnership were delighted to support Mayor Tyler Moore and the City of Kokomo on their first delegation visit to South Korea. StarPlus Energy, a joint venture between Korea-based Samsung SDI & Stellantis, has won a commitment from the U.S. government for up to a $7.54 billion loan to help build two electric vehicle battery plants in City of Kokomo. https://lnkd.in/grW9ChAx
