It was a pleasure to visit SK Siltron CSS with Ambassadors Goldberg and Cho during #AmbDialogue2024! The Bay City, MI plant is providing remarkable innovation in semiconductor technology, and we were pleased to learn more about the important work they do. Thank you SK Siltron and Chairman Chey for supporting KEI's mission to strengthen the U.S.-Korea partnership!
Building on the partnership between the U.S. and Korea, SK Group companies have invested nearly $30 billion since 2019 in U.S. businesses supporting the industries of the future, including semiconductors, new energy, and life sciences. ? SK Siltron CSS recently gave officials from the U.S. and South Korea a first-hand look at the positive impact of this critical partnership. As part of the Ambassadors’ Dialogue program, coordinated by the Korea Economic Institute of America (KEI), SK Siltron CSS hosted delegations led by Philip Goldberg, the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, and Hyundong Cho, South Korean ambassador to the U.S. The group discussed vital U.S.-Korea trade relations and toured SK Siltron CSS’s manufacturing site in Bay City, Mich. ? In Michigan, SK Siltron CSS manufactures silicon carbide wafers, which semiconductor companies use to make power components for electric vehicles. When SK Siltron acquired the company, it operated a single site in Auburn, Mich. The facility’s remarkable growth and expansion to a second larger site in nearby Bay City is a testament to the shared success of the U.S.–Korea partnership. SK Siltron CSS was honored to host Ambassadors Goldberg and Cho and show them how SK companies in Michigan and across the U.S. are creating skilled jobs, driving innovation, and building the industries of the future.
