Located at Highway 41 & Prairie Ave, this multi-phase, 30-acre medical campus will include: ?? A micro-hospital with a 12-room emergency department, advanced imaging, and overnight patient care ?? A large medical office building featuring an ambulatory surgery center, clinic offices, and lab services ?? Future expansion space to grow into a full-service hospital as our community’s needs evolve Development is set to begin in 2025, with completion expected in the next 2-3 years. This strategic joint venture is not a merger but a collaboration designed to accelerate timelines, expand services, and deliver innovative care. Kootenai Health is proud to be the first hospital in Idaho to offer the NeuroPace Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) procedure—bringing cutting-edge epilepsy treatment closer to home. Even more exciting, today we performed our first RNS implantation, marking a major milestone in regional epilepsy care. For patients with difficult-to-control seizures, this innovative technology provides a personalized, real-time approach to seizure management. Previously, families had to travel to Seattle, Portland, or Salt Lake City for this procedure. Now, they can access life-changing care right here in North Idaho. Four years ago today, the team at Kootenai Health came together to care for one of their own during an unimaginable moment. At 37 weeks pregnant, Malia, a Kootenai Health employee, faced a critical medical emergency. Thanks to the swift action of our Labor and Delivery team, an emergency C-section saved her life and that of her baby, Anastasia, who had suffered a stroke in-utero. Our NICU team then worked tirelessly for three weeks, providing the expert, compassionate care that gave Anastasia the fighting chance she needed. Today, “Ana-banana” is thriving as a joyful preschooler, lighting up gymnastics classes, swimming pools, and the lives of everyone she meets. At Kootenai Health, caring for our community is more than a mission—it’s personal. It means being there for our friends, neighbors, and loved ones when it matters most. It means supporting our own employees during their hardest days, ensuring that no one faces a challenge alone.
