Maavee Moment... Here’s a one-minute wellness hack: you are just one minute away from feeling true relief. One of the greatest keys to well-being is stress reduction. Unfortunately, we live in one of the most stressful times in history. The American Lung Association estimates we take more than 20,000 breaths a day (that's 7.5 million each year). We also spend a lot of our time on laptops and phones. Did you know that most of us don’t breathe when we type or (doom) scroll? It's called screen apnea. Next time you're typing, take notice -- you may not be breathing. I build presentations and write emails all day. My breath output is greatly compromised. I imagine you aren’t much different from me. Holding your breath for long stretches doesn’t help your stress levels. I want to share some quick wisdom. It's not brilliant, but it is free: JUST BREATHE! Give it a try right now... ?? Find a comfortable position with your back straight. ??? Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound. ?? Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose for a count of 4. ?? Hold your breath for a count of 7. ??? Exhale through your mouth, making a whoosh sound, for a count of 8. ?? Repeat for a total of four cycles. The immediate result: ?? Sense of calm ?? Lower anxiety ?? Reduced heart rate Do this several times a day consistently and you may see an even greater impact on overall stress and sleep, among other things. Again, it's FREE!
