I’ve been fascinated with sports marketing lately and gaining insight from one of the best, Jordan Rogers. It sparked some ideas on how we can apply key sports marketing concepts to traditional and modern marketing strategies. In sports marketing, fans don’t just buy tickets—they buy into a community, a story, and a sense of belonging. It’s emotional, it’s dynamic, and it’s deeply personal. Yet in traditional business marketing, it’s easy to fall into the trap of being too transactional. Lead-gen. Conversions. ROI. While they are important, they’re not that inspirational. But what if we approached B2B/B2C/DTC marketing with a sports marketing lens? ?Build a fanbase, not just a customer list: In sports, the brand doesn’t just sell a product—it builds lifelong loyalty. In B2B, this translates to creating value-driven content, fostering authentic connections, and consistently showing up for your current & potential customers. ?Embrace the power of storytelling: A great game is about more than just stats—it’s about the underdog, the comeback, the journey. Your story can do the same: What’s your purpose?
