Welcome Cherelle to the Kokua Healthcare Team! We are thrilled to officially welcome Cherelle, our new Office Manager for Home Health & Home Care! Born and raised on the island of Kaua‘i, Cherelle brings a wealth of experience and a heart full of aloha to our team. A Certified Medical Assistant since 2009, Cherelle’s passion for healthcare stems from her love of helping those in need and making a difference in the lives of her clients. Her dedication to serving the community is truly inspiring, and her energy and kindness shine in everything she does. Outside of work, Cherelle enjoys spending time with her family fishing, going to the beach, and cooking out—her favorite pastime! She’s also the proud owner of Paisley and Hunter, a small business specializing in party treats, catering, and desserts, including her famous stuffed mochi, earning her the nickname “The Mochi Lady.” Cherelle is deeply involved in the community, volunteering since 2018 for her children’s youth football and cheer programs, as well as other nonprofit groups. Her commitment to her family, her community, and her work is a testament to her amazing character. Since joining Kokua Healthcare, Cherelle has already made a tremendous impact, from preparing delicious food for our Christmas party to organizing our new office, all with her positive spirit and warm heart. ?? Welcome, Char Kauwe – Client Care Coordinator for Kokua Healthcare’s Home Care Division! ?? We’re thrilled to welcome Char Kauwe to our team! Born on the Big Island and raised on Kaua‘i since the first grade, Char graduated from Kaua‘i Community College with an Associate's Degree in Nursing. She brings a deep sense of community and dedication to her role, shaped by her upbringing and her passion for helping others. Char loves spending her free time playing with her seven dogs, attending church, and relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Kaua‘i. From a young age, her parents instilled the importance of helping those in need, which inspired her to pursue a career in healthcare. Today, she finds daily motivation and inspiration in serving our kūpuna and giving back to the community that raised her. Since joining Kokua Healthcare, Char has already made an incredible impact. Known for her big heart, compassion, intelligence, and positive attitude, she has quickly become a beloved member of our team. We are thrilled to announce that Melissa Kinard has joined us as the Clinical Director of our new Home Health division. With over 30 years of nursing experience, Melissa brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team. She has worked in various roles across trauma care, women’s services—including many years in labor and delivery—and has held positions ranging from Charge Nurse to Supervisor, ADON, and DON. For the past decade, she has focused primarily on long-term care, hospice, and home health. Melissa’s passion for nursing is matched only by her love for travel and spending time with her family and grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys pursuing art and photography, adding a creative touch to her vibrant personality. We are also excited to share that Kokua Healthcare recently obtained its Home Healthcare License from the state of Hawai'i! This is a significant milestone for us as we prepare to pursue Medicare certification. Under Melissa’s leadership, we look forward to expanding our services to the community of Kauai with skilled nursing and various in-home therapy services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy. To support our new Home Health division, we will be hiring occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, speech therapists, and registered nurses. ?? **Introducing Brandi Ventar – Complex Care Manager at Kokua Healthcare!** We are excited to welcome Brandi Ventar to our team as the Complex Care Manager, leading Avana Health’s Complex Care Management program, powered by Kokua Healthcare. This program works closely with physicians to coordinate care and help patients manage their conditions, preventing unnecessary hospitalizations and ensuring they receive the support they need to maintain a higher quality of life at home. ?? A little about Brandi: Born and raised on the beautiful island of Kaua’i, Brandi has a deep connection with our community. She graduated high school a year early and began her journey in the medical field in 2011. After exploring various industries, she returned to her true calling in healthcare, receiving her LPN in 2022. Brandi also holds an associate’s degree in accounting, bringing a wide range of skills and experience to the team. She has worked in long-term care, home health, and with adolescents requiring skilled nursing. As an inactive EMT, Brandi has cared for individuals of all ages, helping them in their most vulnerable moments. ??
