Kokosing recently attended the Council for Dredging and Marine Construction Safety (CDMCS) annual meeting in Washington, D.C., where our dredging superintendent, Harry Tolson, won the CDMCS 2024 Safety Leadership Award!! ?? CDMCS is a unified voice for safety in the dredging and marine construction industry and represents the formal partnership between contractors and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. With an increase in population, the city of Lancaster, OH needed to expand the Upper Hocking WPCF and improve the treatment capabilities to keep up with the pace of growth. Kokosing Industrial started the expansion in 2022 and is now nearing the final stages of work! ?? The team completed the hydro tests of the Vertical Loop Reactor tanks and started the membrane and residual tanks. The Membrane Bioreactor System installation was a coordination challenge as the supplier representatives who come on-site to help finalize the system are booked a year in advance. Kokosing Construction Company is well beyond the halfway mark of the SR 161 project in Franklin County, OH! In less than 15 months, we have widened SR 161 with a new lane in each direction from I-270 to US 62, including seven bridges. The project also widens I-270 from SR 161 to SR 3. In total, 42 lane miles will be constructed once complete! ?? This project is a key player in helping alleviate traffic in this area as the New Albany International Business Park continues its development. This project has required heavy planning, from project coordination to labor and equipment resources. ?? Highlights from this project to date include the construction of over 25,000 feet of concrete barrier wall, paving over 150,000 tons of asphalt, and installing lighting and electrical work! In September our Advanced Leadership Program (ALP) held their annual retreat. During the retreat, they visited SW Michigan and NW Ohio Kokosing Industrial (KII) and Kokosing Construction Company (KCC) projects, visited the Ford Rogue facility to spark innovative thought and worked on developing an enhanced onboarding program! ?? See photos from the two KII projects: the Saline WWTP in Saline, MI and the GLWA West Service Center WWTP in Southfield, MI. For KCC, we visited two projects in Ohio, Glass City Riverwalk in Toledo and I-475 Interstate Reconstruction in Maumee. The projects are in different stages of construction, offering a perfect time for our ALP group to get exposure to how each project team operates and successfully overcomes challenges. At Kokosing, our Women's Ideas and Strategies Exchange (WISE) program is a mentorship program that brings female team members from across all our companies and across all roles together to share experiences and knowledge for personal growth and professional development. ??
