2024 has been a milestone year for KTech! ?? In August we celebrated 5 years since our launch event. Throughout the year we hosted 15 events to connect tech professionals in the Knoxville area. Knoxville Women in Technology grew from 371 to 494 members and had a record attendance for their third annual Women in Tech Expo. In October our board members met for a special session to review our strategic plan and establish three key initiatives for the coming year — stay tuned for more on that soon! What a way to close out 2024! The fifth annual KTech Pulse: Technology Summit brought together local leaders & tech professionals to explore how Knoxville is “Fueling Innovation with Artificial Intelligence.” We kicked off the presentations with four Innovation Spotlights, highlighting how these companies are using AI to improve their services: Contextual Security Solutions, LLC. Covenant Health Knoxville Utilities Board RegScale Mik Bertolli, PhD, Chief Science Officer at Avrio Analytics, shared the keynote address “Commanding the Next Era: Dealing with AI.” Mik gave a crash course on the different types of AI models and how we can balance the hype vs. reality. Then we transitioned to a panel discussion led by Dr. Amir Sadovnik, Research Lead at the Center for AI Security Research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
