Excerpt from our newsletter, posted today.
As we enter the holiday season, and reflect on this passing year, I am grateful more than ever for this community. In October I had the privilege of participating as a moderator to a two-day series of flash focus groups and interviews at the M-Enabling Summit on the topic of digital accessibility professionalism. We explored from the perspective of both the institutions building capacity and the job seeker building a career. Earlier this month I moderated a panel at the Accessing Higher Ground conference in Denver. Ashley Shew (disabled) - who had previously given a keynote talk of power, beauty, and very human vulnerability - was joined by RaLynn McGuire, M.A., CPACC Lucy Greco and David Dauber to share personal stories of disabled experiences of technology. What a great session to be a part of! If you are feeling bewildered (as I certainly am) by current societal forces and unsure of how to take the next steps in the face of projections like those recently published by Disability World, I recommend finding purpose in shared human experience. In her book,?'Against Technoablism,' and in her conference talk, Dr. Shew reminded us of the power of art, poetry, music, and philosophy. She urged us to reconnect our bodyminds, as she called them, to what gives us joy and to continue to imagine a more inclusive and just world. And yes, to continue to work together toward that vision. I’m grateful for that message, delivered with such passion, humor, and clarity. I’m grateful to Knowbility’s outstanding and dedicated staff and Board members.?And I’m grateful to all of you who read our news, participate in programs, share the path, and support Knowbility in our journey. Please stay in touch. We posted the Knowbility monthly newsletter today and hope to hear from many of you. https://lnkd.in/gR_Pf2gp. Thank you.
