The Knorex R&D team has a long-standing dedication to working on areas related to online hate speech and the broader topic of brand safety. We are proud to share our R&D team's latest research publication on "Disentangling Hate Across Target Identities.” In this paper, our researchers systematically examined the pitfalls of large language models in detecting hate speech (HS). ?? Key Findings: ? Bias in Detection: Experiments demonstrate that HS detectors often assign higher hatefulness scores based solely on the mention of specific target minorities. ? Confusion of Emotions: These models frequently mix up hatefulness with emotional polarity. ? Stereotype Correlation: The accuracy of HS detectors is strongly linked to the intensity of stereotypes. This groundbreaking work opens new avenues for the research community to improve the robustness of HS detectors and mitigate inherent biases. It is a significant step forward in creating safer online environments and enhancing our brand safety solutions. At Knorex, we have invested significant amount of efforts and resources to build a strong research culture since our inception. We are committed to applying state-of-the-art technology to ensure our ads are displayed in the right context, protecting brands from potentially harmful online content.
