In Uttarakhand, India, a citizens’ assembly is tackling urgent environmental challenges in a region that serves as a vital water source for Southeast Asia. Led by local NGO Himad Samiti, five villages are working together to conserve and rejuvenate forests, blending traditional practices with innovative strategies. Developed through the Climate Democracy Accelerator (CDA) by People Powered and the Open Government Partnership, this initiative is part of a growing movement in the Global South, where communities are taking the lead in climate action. ??
