Transformational Professional Learning for Emerging & Established Leaders of Independent & International Schools
关于我们
Since 1977, the Klingenstein Center has offered extraordinary independent and international school educators the opportunity to shape their careers, their schools and their profession by focusing on leadership. By recognizing and cultivating the contributions and potential of beginning teachers, mid-career administrators and seasoned heads equally, the Center affirms and furthers the belief that strong schools require thoughtful leadership throughout. The Klingenstein Center offers two master's degree programs in independent school leadership, and fully-funded two week fellowship programs for heads of independent schools and early career teachers.

Executive Director of the Klingenstein Center, Teachers College Columbia University, LEARNS Collaborative Co-founder, Author of Race Sounds (UIowa, 2018). Working on building civic listening.
When I designed the Klingenstein Center, Teachers College, Columbia University post-doctoral fellowship in 2022, my vision was to: (1) Create a post-doctoral experience that was unique in providing resources, space, time, and mentoring and networking opportunities for emerging scholars to delve into their research and into discovering the possibilities of their #ResearchPractitionership; (2) Support research that was important in stretching the attention and building the capacities of #independentschool #internationalschools #teachers #leaders and #schools throughout the education #EDecosystem #listening; and (3) Insure that the Klingenstein Center, Teachers College, Columbia University leverages its unique position as a university center to support the dynamic community of research-practitioners that exists. To cultivate inquiry for the benefit of education writ large -- recognizing the vital role #schools can play in shaping and contributing to our current and future world. #praxis #EdEcosystem #changeagents #ethicalleadership #informedpractice Clare Sisisky #inauguralfellow, thank you for deeply living the purpose of this postdoc through your work #climateaction #interculturaldialogue #schools over the past two years. Your experience writing a book with your daughter is icing on the cake! I am grateful for all that you have brought and will continue to bring to this network and to schools. Looking back on these past two years as the inaugural Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Klingenstein Center, Teachers College, Columbia University, I am grateful to all the educators from around the world that participated in my research study on educator innovations to empower students for climate action as well as to the educators who joined the Global Education Benchmark Group's first summit on climate education. Academic presentations and publications have been (and will continue to be) a welcome result of this time to focus on research and writing on intercultural and global learning, but I have benefitted most from being part of the Klingenstein team and faculty, and learned so much from Nicole Furlonge and all the graduate students in my courses. A personal highlight was also the co-writing process with my teenage daughter of our children's book published this summer, Evelyn Takes Action, inspired by the numerous examples of young people taking action on climate issues that emerged through my research journey. (She basically wrote the whole thing - her own form of climate action - and we got to share our experience with some local schools.)
