What a great meeting this week! Therapy Ranch presented their work with youth and mental health associated with horses. Not only did Lindsay Drouillard speak about how they use horses to alleviate stress and depression - but intern Rory spoke about his vision after college to work with men and veterans suffering from PTSD. Excited that we were able to present a large Troy Kiwanis Foundation check to International Academy East (Troy, MI) high school this week for their mental health program. The dedication that schools and counselors put towards helping our youth with mental health crises should be highlighted and applauded. The immense and overwhelming support needed to help our youth is critical. Our pilot KIT program (Kiwanis Inspired Teens) mental health financial assistance program will be launching this month. Our President - Vicki Cerven-Astell (@vastell) and Treasurer - @JeniCarino attended a Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training. This MHFA training supplied insights into how to identify mental health signs, symptoms, and crisis modes for those in need of help. The MHFA certified person can then connect the person to the mental health professionals/experts to start the healing process and journey. @Henry-Ford-Health professional - Amity LoVett provided the day long training.

Excited to attend Troy @Inforum Affinity meeting yesterday where @DebMourray discussed Foraging for Fungi: A Michigan Mushroom Adventure. Also, she tied in that having a passion outside of work can be an intro into new connections that bring people together. There is more that goes into searching for that exclusive mushroom! Be open to new adventures and keep an open mind to new career transitions. Yesterday at our monthly meeting we had a great speaker - Christopher Mattingly - Past Executive Director of International Logistics at Stellantis. Christopher talked about his Stellantis career and the many facets of supply chain.
