When we started Kiva back in 2010 in our home kitchen, we had a simple but ambitious goal to create an edible experience people could love and trust. In the early days finding cannabis products that were consistent, safe, and delicious was a challenge. Fast forward to today and while the industry still has its challenges, there are many silver linings: women are shaping the industry. Women in cannabis have been forces of change, bringing new ideas both big and small, and providing leadership, driving the regulated cannabis space forward with resilience and creativity. We’ve built brands, advocated for reform, and pushed for more inclusivity in an industry that hasn’t always carved out space for us. The work isn’t done but as we celebrate International Women’s Day tomorrow, I want to take a moment to celebrate the trailblazers, entrepreneurs, and everyday change makers who wake up each morning to make the cannabis industry better. Get it, girl! Believe me, I know how hard it is, but to every woman who is pushing forward and forging your own path, keep going! It’s February, how are you tracking on your New Year’s Resolutions? Or have you abandoned them? Resolutions can be overwhelming sometimes - you set a mountain of a goal and then fail before you even get started. The worst! We don’t need that added pressure in our lives every year. Instead, I believe if you choose a couple of things to do consistently that positively impact your health, that tends to have a more lasting effect and is easier to stick with. That way, when January rolls around again, you aren’t starting from scratch. You’re building on the work you’ve been putting in. Of course, I have a few tools in life’s toolbox that make sticking to a healthy routine a little easier. Over the years, I have used low-dose cannabis edibles regularly in my workouts, especially for longer distance training. It takes my mind off the monotony of the workout, helps me relax into my flow and get a couple more laps or miles in. This year, I suggest trying out products with cannabinoid ratios specifically for energy, recovery and sleep. You’ll be able to keep your mind and body ready for anything -- and deal with those New Year’s Resolutions, no matter how tall or small they may be.
