Happy Friday! What a fantastic way to kick off the day with a visit from U.S. Representative Emily Randall. ?? One of the focuses of today's conversations included a critical issue for our community: broadband access. ?? We took a deeper dive into the challenges many Kitsap County residents face, especially in unserved and underserved areas. It’s clear that expanding access to reliable broadband is essential to support education, business, and quality of life across our region. Joined by KPUD Commissioners Debra Lester and Heather Pauley, MBA and General Manager Angela Bennink, Rep. Randall is looking at a KPUD map, which highlights those areas that still lack the connectivity they need. It's a powerful reminder of the work ahead of us and how important it is to continue advocating for digital equity. We can't believe this was already three weeks ago! KPUD representatives will be back in Olympia next week to ensure legislators know what is important to the communities we serve. Proposed legislation we are watching includes funding utility relocation costs and broadband matching funds.

One of our favorite meetings to attend is the Greater Kitsap Chamber annual holiday meeting and lunch at the Admiral Theater in Bremerton. It brings out a large crowd of businesses and non-profits throughout Kitsap County. Seeing everyone in one place is great!
