The first Kismet Collection yoga safari retreat is officially in the books! ???? What started as a dream in 2023 - leading a yoga safari in the African bush - became reality this month. Ten travelers from across the world came together for a once in a lifetime experience of connection, adventure, and culture, and I couldn’t have asked for a more incredible group to share this experience with. Every day was filled with pinch me moments: ? Witnessing the pure, childlike joy of spotting a first wild animal ? Leading yoga sessions with the bush as our backdrop ? Sharing sunrise game drives, sunset safaris, and traditionally cooked meals ? Watching ten strangers become lifelong friends To our first safari family (Hailey Mulliner, Matthew Burkey, Cheyenne Tabb, Marlene Rodríguez Tenorio, Allison Grell, Leila Rojer + a few others) - thank you for trusting me to bring you on this journey. The most unforgettable New Year's I've ever experienced was at a remote lodge in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, on a lake full of hippos. The following day, January 1, 2023, I went on my first safari. During that initial game drive, I felt the intensity of being a visitor in nature, connecting with wildlife unlike ever before. As my game drive count grew, so did that feeling of connection. I began to imagine how incredible it would be to bring my stateside community to Africa to share this life-changing experience. It was during one of those nights, post elephant encounter, under the starry Savannah sky, that Kismet Collection was born. People often ask why my trip was so transformative. While my worldview was expanding, I realized my visit contributed to something far greater than I imagined - supporting wildlife conservation and uplifting the local communities working in the African bush. The smiles, love, and gratitude I received from those living and working in these wild spaces made every moment even more meaningful and is a feeling I think about often. Fast forward to today, I am beyond excited and proud to see this vision come full circle. In February 2025, I’ll be leading my first group of adventurers to South Africa to experience this magic firsthand. We'll begin with one night in Hoedspruit, followed by 4 nights (8 game drives) on safari in Kruger National Park, and wrap up with 3 nights in Cape Town, where we’ll hike Lion’s Head, explore Table Mountain, visit wine country, and soak in the beaches and beauty of the Mother City. This trip has my heart and soul poured into every detail, and I can’t wait to see who will fill the remaining 5 spots and join us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
