Today we're excited to announce the promotion of Justin Morales to Lead Security Engineer at Kirkwall. As Kirkwall's very first hire, Justin took a chance and packed up everything to move across the country from New York City to our #Fargo engineering office following his graduation from the Flatiron School. He quickly became a critical team member, and before long was installing sensor towers in farm fields, leading teams of interns in support for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) initiatives, and exploring experimental R&D efforts for Kirkwall's ongoing efforts to monitor and secure critical infrastructure. Today the Kirkwall team is excited to announce that Riley DuBord has joined our team full-time as a Full-Stack Software Developer. Following his graduation from Emerging Prairie's Emerging Digital Academy, Riley spent the summer as a Kirkwall intern. His exemplary work directly contributed to Kirkwall saving an AgTech-sector biotech facility from losing 4+ years of archived cancer research samples, DNA, and tens of thousands of dollars of chemical reagents. Riley personally led the development of multiple new user interface improvements as well as the development of a user tutorial to ensure the scalability of Kirkwall's customer onboarding process for new clients. CASE STUDY: While onboarding a multinational animal health biotech client this week, Kirkwall intern and Emerging Digital Academy graduate Riley DuBord was automatically alerted to a critical failure of a laboratory freezer system. Thanks to sensor hardware provided by our fellow Plug and Play Tech Center graduate company Rivercity Innovations feeding back to Kirkwall's software via instant API feeds built with our friends at Devii, laboratory managers sprinted across the lab and resolved the freezer failure- resulting in Kirkwall's software saving four years of archived cancer research samples, DNA, and tens of thousands of dollars worth of chemical reagents on day one. Today Kirkwall co-founder and CTO Ujjwal Adhikari received an alumni highlight from Emerging Prairie's Emerging Digital Academy, where he first made his career pivot to software development following time spent as an internationally-ranked competitive eSports gamer, AgTech IoT subject-matter-expert at Grand Farm, and microbiology student at North Dakota State University. Akshay brings an academic background in Civil Engineering along with expertise in data engineering, analytics, and front-end development.
