???We are thrilled to welcome Nathalie Means Henderson, Ph.D. as the CEO of KIPP St. Louis.? Dr. Henderson is a visionary leader with a proven track record of improving student achievement. Currently serving as Executive Vice President for Corps Member and Alumni Leadership Development at Teach For America, she has spent her career advancing educational excellence.? Previously, as Chief Schools Officer for Indianapolis Public Schools, she led efforts to increase graduation rates and improve state test scores. As Area Superintendent in Metro Atlanta, she oversaw 18 schools and successfully reduced the number of failing schools from six to one. This selection follows a rigorous and inclusive national search, with invaluable input from students, families, staff, and community members. As we welcome Dr. Henderson, we also extend our deepest gratitude to Kelly Garrett for his years of dedicated service to KIPP St. Louis. Kelly will remain with us through July 1, 2025, ensuring a seamless leadership transition. Dr. Henderson joins KIPP St. Louis at a time of incredible momentum. Through our strategic alignment to the KIPP Foundation, we’re rolling out high-quality curricula, creating joyful and rigorous classrooms, and driving meaningful learning gains. Dr. Henderson is ready to build on this progress and accelerate our impact. She has already begun meeting with our leadership team and will be engaging with the broader community in the weeks ahead. For thirty years, KIPP has strived to ensure that all our students graduate prepared for college and successful careers. We know college remains the surest path to achieving a thriving, secure future. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the U.S. college wage premium doubles over the life cycle, from 27% at age 25 to 60% at age 55. I would welcome any such proof points from CTE programs. At the same time, we have never sent 100 percent of our graduates to college, and that's why we have invested in strategies to counsel students who are considering other options to identify high-quality career pathways that graduate students at a high rate and consistently match them with a good first job. The New York Times article illustrates the type of supports KIPP Forward offers in order to help students navigate options in a landscape where too few credible CTE pathways exist and data on program quality is scarce. It's a challenge, but one our KIPP Forward staff around the country meet every day, and we're so proud to see their exemplary work highlighted in this story. https://lnkd.in/e5FHcDzG ?

Its Black History Month, today we recognize the work of Claudette Colvin, a lesser-known yet pivotal figure in the Civil Rights Movement. At just 15 years old, Colvin refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama, nine months before Rosa Parks. Her bravery helped lay the groundwork for the landmark bus boycott that would change the course of history. At KIPP St. Louis, we draw inspiration from this spirit of courage and resilience.
