Proud to officially announce that?KINO?has oversubscribed our Pre-Seed funding round. The team has been working hard behind-the-scenes (pun intended): - Over $2M raised - Investors include?Sequoia Capital's Scout Program,?Slow Ventures,?Genius Ventures,?Blockchain Founders Fund,?MetaWeb Ventures, entertainment industry angels, and more - Over 1M monthly fan engagement and counting - Over 200 film/show listing applications - Over 75M in organic social reach from our celebrity film/tv creators This past year has upended Hollywood-- a historic double-strike that has not happened since the 60s. Social media has radically changed how Gen Z and Alpha consume entertainment online. Change is imminent. Many startups are tackling the "creator economy" but no apps exist to properly empower film/tv creators in the massive but particular vertical that is the $2T+ film & television market. KINO changes that. Built for the next-gen of film & television, KINO combines the power of social + entertainment to meet consumers where they are today-- online, tired of the old clunky gatekept model, and ready to support their favorite artists and the next wave of amazing cinematic storytelling. The best part? We beat every other company on the market in return to the film/tv creator. We founded KINO to fix broken Hollywood economics, revive fair pay and royalties, and give film/tv creators all the tools they need to leverage their large and loyal fanbases from script to screen. Curious, driven, and methodical—meet Casey Creveling, our new Digital Marketing Lead at KINO! Joining us in August 2024, Casey brings a wealth of experience from the entertainment and tech worlds, paired with a deep love for storytelling. Casey’s journey began in unscripted TV development at MGM, where he quickly recognized the inefficiencies and red tape that plagued traditional entertainment. Determined to find a more dynamic and equitable space, he transitioned to the digital realm, where he achieved an incredible 2 billion views working with top YouTube creators like MrBeast. Now, Casey is channeling his passion for connecting audiences with creators at KINO, where he’s excited to help revolutionize the entertainment industry through a new era of authenticity and interactivity. Inspired by the incredible drive of our team, he’s thrilled to be part of an organization where everyone is fully committed to a shared goal. When he’s not absolutely rocking our digital marketing efforts, Casey enjoys playing guitar, dominating on the pickleball court, playing board games, and spending time with his adorable Shiba Inu as a proud stepdad. Casey’s advice for those starting out in the industry? “Surround yourself with people who are ambitious and hard-working; people who inspire you to always be improving.”

Loyal, and funny—meet Nikki Duval, KINO’s Creative Associate! Based in Toronto, Ontario, Nikki joined KINO to bring her love of storytelling and creativity to the team. With a background that started in the theater, she is classically trained and graduated from the école nationale de théatre du Canada / National Theatre School of Canada before transitioning into TV and film most notably staring in "Working Moms" (2017-2023) and "Strays" (2021). Nikki’s experience as a working actor in the film industry drew her to KINO, where she’s excited to be part of a company striving for equality and equity in the industry she loves. “KINO at its core is out to improve the film industry for all” says?Nikki, “It’s by the people, for the people”. Outside of her work at KINO, Nikki’s life revolves around her acting career, which she considers her true passion, and her dog, Rosie, whose happiness is a top priority (duh). Her advice to anyone entering the industry??“Shoot for the stars! Don't let fear hold you back. I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada)- where opportunity for being successful in the film industry is not a ‘realistic’ career choice. But I knew in my bones that this is what I was meant to be doing. And slowly, piece by piece it became MY reality… I soon realized that everyone has imposter syndrome in this industry- and that really evens out the playing field. We all share the same insecurities!”

Driven, adventurous, energetic—meet Noah Espinola, KINO’s Executive Assistant to the COO & GC! Noah joined KINO in January of this year and has already made a significant impact, bringing his unique blend of enthusiasm and expertise to the team. It all began in his home country of Paraguay, where his dual passion for entertainment and business was sparked. His innovative mindset led him to bootstrap a $10,000 film into theaters in his home country, a remarkable feat that speaks to his dedication and resourcefulness. Seeking to broaden his horizons, Noah moved to the US to study at Emerson College, a decision that propelled him into a multifaceted career encompassing streaming sales, TV, movies, public broadcasting, commercials, and themed entertainment. At KINO, Noah is driven by the company's bold mission to propose a new way of doing things in “an industry rife with economic disparity and inequity.” He values the tireless efforts of his colleagues to turn KINO’s visionary goals into reality, working alongside a team that shares his commitment to creating equitable and sustainable solutions. Outside of the office, Noah’s passions are as diverse as his professional experiences. He enjoys playing and watching soccer, viewing horror films, exploring new destinations through travel, and relaxing at home with his cats. Noah’s advice for those starting out in the industry is simple yet paramount: Go after what you want; never wait for opportunities to come to you. Driven, relaxed, kind—meet Nicholas Erickson, KINO’s Head of Film and Television Partnerships! Nick joined KINO in June of this year and has been absolutely killing it. Nick’s journey began in New Orleans, where his passion for media and the arts, and their power to connect people from all walks of life, took root. He worked on notable sets, including Lee Daniels' “The Butler”, before deciding to advance his career by attending The American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Since then, Nick's career has soared. He was the Associate Producer for the acclaimed film “May December,” Co-Producer on the upcoming “We Bury the Dead,” and Production Executive on “Summer Camp,” to name just a few. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to found Giant Leap Media Ventures, a film funding company that's backing “We Bury the Dead,” now in post-production. But Nick's passion doesn't stop there. He's diving into the world of film-adjacent technology, driven by his firsthand insights into the industry's challenges. With innovative ventures like KINO, he's on a mission to streamline film production and distribution. Nick finds KINO to be a unique company that emphasizes transparency and mutually beneficial business partnerships in film distribution. He values reasonable, focused, and positive relationships, which aligns perfectly with our mission here! In his free time, you can find Nick rock climbing, camping, backpacking, sailing, gardening, or playing volleyball and tennis—he’s practically a walking advertisement for REI! Nick’s lasting advice for those who’ve read this far: Relationships are important. Approach every meeting with the utmost respect and curiosity. Also, make sure you like the people you work with and that you respect one another. It makes everything better!
