These are leaders who inspire their fellow employee-owners and strengthen both the company and the communities we serve. Michelle Olsen & John Steria: Michelle and John are Supervising Pharmacists (Store #50 in Plattsburgh, NY and Store #43 in Baldwinsville, NY respectively) AND scheduling partners who have the daunting responsibility of ensuring that every pharmacy opens and closes on time, and that pharmacy employees have the coverage they need to deliver exceptional care. Their work happens behind the scenes, but the impact is felt every day by their colleagues and Kinney's communities. Their attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to supporting our teams make all the difference. Quite simply, our pharmacy teams couldn’t do it without them. EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION! Each year at our annual Leadership Conference, Kinney Drugs names one Drugstore of the Year from among 95 amazing stores. It is is no easy task. Every single store—and every single employee in those stores—is working hard every day serving patients, tackling new challenges, and going above and beyond to support the communities we call home. However, our long-standing tradition is to highlight one store whose achievements stood above the rest. In 2024, Store #13 on State Street in Watertown, NY rose to every challenge with remarkable resilience and a focus on delivering the high-quality care and service their community has come to expect. Store #13 welcomed new files, patients, and customers during a major store remodel and its myriad complexities. The staff Store #13 - lead by Manager Jerrica Hamson and Supervising Pharmacist Jeff Miller - handled every bump in the road with professionalism, patience, and, above all, a commitment to serving their patients and community. EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION! Each year at our annual Leadership Conference, Kinney Drugs bestows its most prestigious award: The Quest for Excellence. This award recognizes an individual who embodies hard work, leadership, selflessness, and a proactive commitment to excellence that inspires everyone around them. This award is reserved for someone who has made an extraordinary impact, who has gone above and beyond in ways that truly move the needle for the company. This year’s honoree is Pam Murphy. Pam began her Kinney career at Store #74 in Tully, NY in October 2011 as a nationally certified pharmacy technician and is now part of the centralized pharmacy team. Pam has had a tremendous impact on the company by addressing inventory challenges and transforming them into opportunities, helping it to operate more efficiently and effectively. She helps the drugstores prepare for annual inventories by organizing shelves, pulling outdated products, and assisting with data entry. Her work ensures that the teams are ready for inventory day and are prepared to operate at their best throughout the year. She takes the time to educate others, sharing her knowledge of inventory control so that employees can learn and grow. The feedback about Pam is simply incredible. It wasn’t requested; it came unsolicited—in texts, calls, and comments from store employees, regional leaders, and colleagues. Pam doesn’t just solve problems; she teaches, supports, and lifts others up every step of the way. Her heart and dedication are unmatched. She is the true definition of an employee owner: someone who takes pride in everything she does, who sees Kinney Drugs not as a job but as a part of her identity, and who works tirelessly to ensure its success for years to come. Exciting news at Kinney Drugs! We just launched a fantastic new Active Sports and Nutrition section! This is a game changer for busy individuals like myself who are always on the go. Being on the road as much as I am, healthy choices are not always easy to come by and I certainly appreciate healthy and convenient products. I am recently back on my fitness journey and prioritizing my well-being, so this new section is a welcome addition.
