Through OhioKAN, we provide free navigator services to kinship and adoptive families across Ohio, helping them access vital resources. But our support doesn’t stop there. Our Youth Navigator Network (YNN) extends these services to young adults who’ve experienced foster care, offering one-on-one assistance to help them navigate adulthood. Whether they need help with education, employment, or emotional support, YNN ensures that youth who’ve aged out of care have the resources they need to thrive. For 18 years, we’ve been active members of this impactful organization and convene regularly with other members to share expertise and discuss trends, share insights, and drive meaningful change. #Kinnect

This year's #NationalAdoptionMonth theme, 'Honoring Youth: Strengthening Pathways for Lasting Bonds,' focuses on creating strong support systems for youth in care. Our Youth-Centered Permanency Roundtables (YCPRT) embody this by placing youth at the center of their own permanency planning. In this process, youth are empowered to invite important people from their lives to join in creating a long-term support network, ensuring their well-being and stability as they transition into adulthood. In October, Kinnect had the honor to present our Chosen Affirming Family Finding (CAFF) program at the Administration for Children and Families(https://www.acf.hhs.gov) in DC. CAFF connects young people with family and chosen family, supporting them in safely sharing their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression (SOGIE) and building networks that affirm their identity and support their journey.
