NEW WOMEN OF THE FUTURE PODCAST!!?? What an incredible week it’s been, with our Women of the Future UK Award winners named on Wednesday 13th November, which also happened to be World Kindness Day! To celebrate, for our podcast Kim has spoken to one of our 2023 Kindness and Leadership 50 Leading Lights alumni – Polly McMaster. Polly McMaster is co-founder and CEO of The Fold, an award-winning British brand focused on creating workwear that inspires women to feel confident and ‘put-together’ every day. Her career journey is an inspiring one – possessing both a PhD in molecular biology from Cambridge University as well as an MBA from London Business School, along the way Polly has also worked in healthcare consulting and private equity in the healthcare industry. On pivoting into fashion, with a desire to stand out for the right reasons and feel confident in what she was wearing, Polly spotted a gap in the market, and the rest in history! Happy World Kindness Day! When we launched the Kindness and Leadership: 50 Leading Lights campaign seven years ago on World Kindness Day, it felt like we were swimming against the current. Many struggled to see how the often-perceived 'soft' concept of kindness could align with strong, impactful leadership – and that’s exactly why we embarked on this journey. This year, we wanted to delve deeper into the leadership landscape and create a kindness manual where we highlight practical tips, techniques, and insights gathered over the years to inspire action. We’ve also interviewed leaders whose research and experiences make it clear that kindness fuels wellbeing, resilience, and innovation. Their advice also offers tangible steps we can all take to embed kindness into our leadership practices.
