We are pleased to announce the strengthening of the UAE KP Chair team as we continue advancing our ambitious agenda for 2025. We welcome back Evgeny Garanin, who will be supporting the UAE KP Chair alongside the rest of the team. Evgeny previously contributed to the UAE KP Chair’s work during the 2016 chairmanship and the UAE CPC chairmanship in 2017. In his current role as Senior Manager of Sustainability and Public Affairs at DMCC, a Government of Dubai entity, Evgeny plays a key role in shaping the organisation’s ESG strategy, including the development of its 2050 net-zero roadmap. With a strong background in public sector policy and global commodity industries, Evgeny has held several key roles focused on policy development and public affairs. Notably, he served as an advisor to the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations, where he played a pivotal role in the adoption of the UN resolution on the Kimberley Process and conflict diamonds. His dedication to sustainability, ethical trade, and best practices aligns closely with the UAE’s vision for the KP. As we move forward in this "Year of Best Practice," we look forward to working closely with all of you.

DMCC’s Executive Chairman and CEO, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, and Chief Operating Officer, Feryal Ahmadi, welcomed H.E. Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, and H.E. Rashid Sesay, Ambassador of Sierra Leone to the UAE, to Uptown Tower yesterday. With diamond production reaching over 700,000 carats per year, Sierra Leone is one of the world's leading diamond producers with rapidly expanding trade with the #UAE. Together, they discussed Sierra Leone's trade growth and strategic opportunities to enhance diamond business connectivity between the #UAE and #SierraLeone, including through DMCC’s world-class precious stones ecosystem Dubai Diamond Exchange.

A productive week at Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town, where KP Chair Ahmed Bin Sulayem engaged in crucial discussions on the future of the #KimberleyProcess. The focus for 2025 includes driving the digitalization of KP Certificates through #Verifico, an initiative led by the UAE, and promoting the #YearOfBestPractice across the industry. Felix Ulloa, Vice President of El Salvador, to DMCC’s stand at World of Coffee Dubai 2025 for a high-level discussion on trade, innovation, and strategic business ties. With synergies across multiple sectors including coffee, renewable energy, crypto and digital assets, the meeting served to underline the opportunities for enhanced growth and connectivity between Dubai and El Salvador, setting the stage for further collaboration to drive trade expansion.

Today the Kimberley Process Chair, Ahmed Bin Sulayem, officially designated 2025 as the Year of Best Practice during the KP AHCRR meeting in Cape Town, held during Indaba – a call for KP members to raise standards with higher industry benchmarks, strengthen internal controls, and share successful models that can be adopted across the KP family. Key to this year’s KP programme will be digital innovation. The UAE’s Proof of Concept, #Verifico, introduced at last year’s Plenary in Dubai, represents a transformative milestone in the evolution of the KP certification process by enabling and issuing secure digital certificates. UAE KP Chair and DMCC head Ahmed Bin Sulayem met with Mike Akiki, Managing Director of Antwerp Cut bv, and Nissim Zuaretz, President of the Israel Diamond Exchange (ISDE) at the inaugural Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference (DIDGC). The conversation focused on the MENA region’s strategic role as a trade facilitator and market maker for the diamond sector. They also discussed how Dubai Diamond Exchange continues to strengthen Dubai's status as a leading global diamond trading hub.

DMCC’s EC and CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem gave the keynote address at the inaugural Doha International Diamond & Gemstone Conference in #Qatar.
