And now for something a little different ??? At the end of 2024, I had the chance to step way outside my comfort zone — and into a sound booth. I joined a new #podcast that’s not about #lawyers (though a few guests are), and not about #AI (though it comes up). On the surface, it doesn’t look like it has much to do with Killer Whale Strategies. But it has everything to do with what we do. Every year, I try to take on one project that stretches me — something that will make me better at delivering for clients. Most people know KWS as an AI strategy consultancy. That’s true, but our work always sits at the intersection of three things: Intel. Strategy. #Storytelling. We help clients make sense of emerging trends — like GenAI — and translate them into strategy. But strategy doesn’t stick unless you can explain it. That’s where storytelling comes in. And I believe it’s what truly sets us apart: informed, strategic storytelling. Over the past few years, I’ve produced 75+ webinars, nearly 50 podcast episodes, video case studies, short documentaries, even one cringey music video. This latest project — a beautifully produced, narrative-driven podcast in the style of NPR — pushed me in new directions, and I loved it. I’ll share more as the show rolls out. But in the meantime, here’s my big picture takeaway. One of the effects of AI is that we are all going to be in a constant state of learning and upskilling. The best thing you can do is lean into it. Next up for me in the just outside my comfort zone category: writing a book. What’s next for you?

Need some content to get all jazzed up for LegalWeek25? I've got you covered. This week we've a double hitter -- that's right two new podcasts, both with two young but still grizzled tech vets. First up is my #legaltech brother from another mother Chris Williams (should be clear from the video why I say that) who talked to me about Legora (formerly Leya)'s recent rebrand. When you talk to people like Chris who've been in this for a while, often selling products to uninterested lawyers, you can sense the excitement -- a change in zeitgeist if you will -- about AI for lawyers. Lawyers are more interested than ever, as well they should be. ?? to full pod on Apple https://lnkd.in/d_fZNviQ Spotify https://lnkd.in/dbA3Ha4n

I've spoken at conferences and I've recorded podcasts at conferences, but this will be my first time speaking at a podcast conference ??? The first week of April, I'll be in Chicago to speak at Podcast Movement about the topic of misinformation and disinformation in podcasting. Although we operate in the legaltech and AI niche a big part of what we do at Killer Whale Strategies is informed, strategic storytelling. I like to stay up to date on best practices, always with an eye towards AI of course, and attending conferences like this one is part of our investment in staying current. If you're attending, give me a holler. And, if you're in Chicago that week, let me know in the comments. Link to register: https://lnkd.in/d5-Ycaby

Have you booked your tickets ?? to Myrtle Beach? Last year I had the honor of sitting on the keynote panel with CAT CASEY and Kristen Sonday at the inaugural International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) EVOLVE conference. I’m excited to report I’ll be back this year (more on that in an upcoming post). But I’m not the only reason to go to ILTA (even though I am indeed loads of fun), which is why I had on Kenneth Jones and Joshua Smith, CISSP on episode 18 ??? of “Zach Abramowitz is Legally Disrupted.” If this clip alone doesn’t convince you then you’ll just have to listen to the full podcast! Everything EXCEPT for the $75 Million dollars. That's what I discussed during my conversation with Luminance CEO Eleanor Lightbody in Episode 17 of "Zach Abramowitz is Legally Disrupted." The company hadn't yet announced their brand new $75M capital raise when we spoke a couple of weeks ago, so we didn't talk about it here on the pod. But, we did get a chance to talk about how GenAI was changing the way companies think about their contracts and how tech startups that were launched prior to the transformer model revolution that kicked off with ChatGPT have pivoted and adapted to an LLM first world -- something Eleanor knows quite a bit about. Getting Davids and Goliaths to work together ain't simple, but when they do come together properly they can really make some magic. If you're a #startup trying to get that first big partnership or if you're a #lawfirm trying to land an exclusive with the next rising star team, check out my conversation with Ilona Logvinova and Evan Shenkman. The two of them have proven to be quite good at this. So much actionable content here -- things you can tailor and implement in your own organization. They share insights and blueprints that can help you whether you're a David or a Goliath and, get this, they also explain why sharing is part of how they attract top teams. Btw, Ilona says that Legal is having its Amazon moment -- do you agree? Comment below. Apple https://lnkd.in/dSHUSgTT Spotify https://lnkd.in/d_CuQPXn

Had a great conversation with #legaltech expert Zach Abramowitz from Killer Whale Strategies about Aracor AI and my professional journey #legallydisrupted ?? ??

?? First podcast of 2025 is out! I had an opportunity over the holidays to sit down for a long form conversation with Katya Fisher founder of Aracor AI. I met Katya earlier this year in Boston at Future Lawyer USA and have been following her journey since. Aracor has been strategically stealthy, so Katya might not be on your radar yet. She should be. If Aracor executes on its mission it could have ripple effects that disrupt the flow of PE deals to law firms. Full Podcast Available On: ?? Apple Podcasts https://lnkd.in/dUaaZWW6 ?? Really enjoyed my conversation with Zach Abramowitz - he's someone who truly gets it when it comes to the impact of legal AI on the profession. Excited to share what we've been delivering with our AI solution, ndMAX. Putting DMS and AI together creates so many powerful opportunities for our customers! ??Podcast drop??? Lawyer ? Dynamic (exited) founder ? Chief Product Officer with vision ? I had the opportunity recently to speak at the NetDocuments user conference in London ???? While I was onsite at the conference, I had an opportunity to sit down with CPO Dan Hauck. I’ve had opportunities over the years to speak to Dan, and I get smarter every time. In this podcast we touched on AI (of course), the other AI companies in the market place and how NetDocuments sees itself in the lawyer AI ecosystem (probably not what you thought). If you want to see what a nuanced and sophisticated approach to AI looks like and you want to learn about a fairly low risk low effort way to start using AI in practice, then I can’t recommend this podcast highly enough.
