North Star Infrastructure, a partnership between Kiewit and the T??cho Government, along with the Government of Northwest Territories, is proud to announce that we have been awarded the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnership’s 2024 Award for P3 Service Delivery for the T??cho All-Season Road project. This 96km all-season gravel highway replaces the existing ice road, connecting the First Nation T???ch? community of Whatì to the Northwest Territories’ all-weather Highway 3, approximately 170km northwest of Yellowknife. Since the commencement of P3 Service Delivery nearly three years ago, the T??cho All-Season Road has maintained zero availability or compliance failures. This project not only supports the infrastructure goals of the Government of the Northwest Territories but also significantly enhances the quality of life for T???ch? citizens. The project promotes economic growth while preserving local values, with all operations and maintenance labour performed by Indigenous personnel. North Star Infrastructure is honoured to receive this award. Started in 2022 and scheduled for completion in early 2025, our team on the I-15 Tropicana Interchange Project is transforming the main interchange on the Las Vegas Strip that connects I-15 and Tropicana Avenue. Our proactive, multi-pronged approach aims to raise the height of the Tropicana Avenue bridge to meet federal standards and safely accommodate commercial vehicles. Additionally, the project will widen Tropicana Avenue to four lanes in each direction and lengthen the largest bridge on the project to prepare for future I-15 widening. An added bonus: relocating Dean Martin Drive to run under Tropicana Avenue is expected to improve overall traffic flow. The season’s first snowfall brought a frosty new face to our Lone Tree office in Colorado. ??? Engineers Ana Di Vito, Alex O’Brien, Loveday Roman-Lemac and Shile Dong celebrated the wintry weather with some festive fun, and a cool new team member.

Kiewit has been selected to deliver paving and construction services for the North Runway Modernization at the Vancouver International Airport. Starting in spring 2025, work will begin on paving and infrastructure enhancements to ensure the runway’s longevity and resilience. Our scope includes a full asphalt overlay of the 9,941-foot runway and upgrades to drainage systems. All work will occur overnight during the runway’s closure period over eight-hour increments. Have you spotted Kiewit’s D.B. Patrick helping out around the new Pattullo Bridge site? The D.B. Patrick, a 303-ton heavy lift pile driver, is currently supporting the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project in British Columbia, specifically assisting with the installation of steel girders for the north approach. This new four-lane cable-stayed bridge will improve connections between New Westminster and Surrey, providing wider lanes for both passenger and commercial vehicles, dedicated walking and cycling lanes, and enhanced safety features. We are supporting Fraser Crossing Partners, a joint venture between ACCIONA and Aecon Group Inc., by contributing our D.B. Patrick, staff and craft employees to this significant infrastructure development.

Aloha from the Kapalama Container Terminal Wharf and Dredging Project! Our project team is currently working on Phase 2, which includes the demolition, mass grading and waterfront improvement of several piers in Honolulu Harbor. This phase also involves the dredging and constructing of a new wharf. The project will add 60+ acres to the port, adjacent to the existing cargo yard, and is a key component in addressing the growing economic demands and congestion in the harbor. Recently, our team has been focusing on the foundation work, completing the vibratory stone column installation using the Kobelco 895 Crane and predrilling with LB28. We are also pouring 36-inch cast-in-drilled hole concrete piles and installing the segmental casing. Kiewit is the general contractor for the project, which is scheduled for completion in 2025.
