Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his lifelong work in advancing civil rights and liberation for all. We’re taking some time to reflect on the power of community and appreciate how our differences shape the richness of humanity! Our mission at Kiewit Luminarium places connection and engagement at the center of the education experience. We come to know our world and ourselves more deeply through relationships. In very real ways, our work comes alive through the participation of our community. Something we celebrate, EVERY day. Today, we’re open from 10AM-5PM. #MLKDay ID: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. speaking into a microphone, with an overlaid quote that reads: “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”

Happy end of 2024! (We’re closing at 3PM today and open from 10AM-5PM on January 1.) Today, we’re grateful for the many brilliant collaborators who helped shape Luminarium programming this year. The scientists, teachers, artists, and writers we partner with throughout the year play a pivotal role in bringing the Luminarium’s mission to life. Our time with Megan L. Bull Bear of Lakota Made this summer is still resonating with us. Her vision for cultivating a reciprocal relationship with the ecology that surrounds us was a theme that carried us through the year. We’re thankful for her generosity and her work! It’s our mission to support the work of scientists and thinkers like Megan who are advancing our understanding and offering radical insight into new ways of relating to the world around us. Thank you to all who have supported us this year in making this mission possible! ID: Edited video of Megan L. Bull Bear sitting on the Missouri river front, speaking to the camera. Also included are clips of people looking for plants in the landscaping around the Luminarium on a sunny August day.
