On this #FeelGoodFridays, we meet Liset, a mom whose story with us began when she welcomed her beautiful baby girl, Lia, into the world. After a few days in our NICU, they both left with hearts full of hope. But just four months later, Lia faced an emergency. Liset brought her back to her "home" hospital—HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she spent Halloween with her NICU and Pediatric nurses. Here's what Liset had to say about the care they received: "My baby was born here at Kendall Hospital, and I knew that if anything happened, I'd bring her back. The care we received in the NICU and Pediatric unit was incredible. The team treated Lia like family, as if she were their own child. I felt so comforted knowing she was in such good hands." KIDZ hematology/oncology physician, Dr. Jorge Galvez-Silva — in collaboration with peers at transplant programs throughout the state of Florida — published original research for ‘Transplant for Pediatric Patients with Acute Leukemia Outcomes’ in The Florida Pediatrician, a peer-reviewed journal of the Florida chapter of the AAP. Congrats to all involved! ?? We know that pediatric cancer research can unlock new hope. While we focus on the precise medical care these tiny patients need, ICU baby is providing financial, emotional, and informational support so that babies and families can thrive together in the NICU. ??
