Killer Opening Lines For Unforgettable Speeches First Impressions Count - Knowing how to hook your audience in the first 30 seconds of your talk is crucial. This is the time your listeners form an impression of you and of what's to follow. The success of your talk depends upon grabbing your listeners’ attention and keeping them engaged. A hook is a presentation opening tactic that immediately captures your audience’s imagination. A hook instantly engages your audience so that they want to listen to what you have to say. ?? • We could not agree more! Everybody can learn to be a great public speaker. It’s a valuable skill to learn as an adult: and an even better one to learn as a kid. We have a learning video specific to each of Felix Bertram’s points. Message me for a sneak peak at one of them then share it with a young person you know.

Dermatologist & Entrepreneur | Shark Tank Investor ????| TEDx Speaker ??

I thought great speakers were born, not made. Turns out I was wrong. People think public speaking is about: - Charisma - Confidence - Natural Talent But you don't need these to be an effective speaker. Sure, they help, but they aren't everything. Public speaking is more about preparation, understanding your audience, and delivering a clear message. Anyone can learn to be a great speaker with the right approach. This is the framework I based my TED Talk on. Steal this for your next presentation: 1???Focus on one major idea. For me, that was the timeless human pursuit of beauty,? and how societal standards have evolved over time. 2?? Spark curiosity. I began my talk by asking, "Who here has ever had a procedure to improve their appearance?" This question engaged the audience right away, it made them reflect on their own behaviors and created a curiosity about where the talk would lead. 3?? Build your idea with familiar concepts. Use relatable metaphors. A great example is when people explain their business as ‘the Uber for…’ 4?? Make sure you are adding value to others. If it only serves you, reconsider its value. This quote sums it up nicely: "The best way to conquer stage fright is to know what you’re talking about."? – Michael H. Mescon ________________ ?? Was this insightful? • Dr. Temple Grandin is a truly great spokesperson and voice for #ag, #agriculture and #autism and an inspiring example of how great public speakers change industries, opinions, and lives. Thank you, Dr. Grandin.

#Agriculture is a place for everyone. The industry is better when?all?young people can see themselves as future agriculturalists, farmers, and engineers. Neurodiversity in #ag is often an overlooked topic, but I recently had the pleasure of listening to and learning from Dr. Temple Grandin, an exceptional 4-H alum. ? Young people have unique assets that must be tapped in order to meet the challenges of our future. As Dr. Grandin explains, our nation’s young people learn in many ways, such as visual thinking. We have a responsibility to appreciate, support, and capitalize on these gifts to ensure our young people are positioned to succeed in work and life. ? At National 4-H Council, we take this responsibility seriously. Our Extension programs and projects center all kinds of learners through hands-on, immersive experiences in key industries such as electricity, welding, robotics, and more. Thank you to Shari Rogge-Fidler and the rest of the Farm Foundation team for bringing us together for this important discussion.
