Did you know that only 3% of #fosteryouth go on to graduate from college? Foster Love's Family Fellowship is attempting to change that through a much more comprehensive approach that goes far beyond tuition support. Students get everything they might need—from move-in dorm support and quarterly care packages to stress management coaching—and also participate in events designed to build community, such as a Winter Retreat where they'll celebrate the holidays together as a family. Every child deserves to feel loved and cared for at bedtime, and getting a good night's sleep is essential for children's health, social and emotional well-being, and school performance. But kids in #fostercare are often unable to get the sleep they need, whether it's from not having bedtime routines or not feeling comfortable and secure at night. This event is open to everyone, but it is particularly great for young adults (ages 18-30). We are excited to share that One Simple Wish created an Education Wish Fund dedicated to providing tuition fees, certification classes, and specialized educational equipment to current or former foster youth. Want to learn more about the effect of lead exposure in #Milwaukee? "Something in the Water" is a new documentary about the impact on Black communities in particular. You can watch it at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at a free public screening at Milwaukee Public Library’s Good Hope Branch (7715 W. Good Hope Road). The screening will also include resources for the community, so check it out!
