Meeting the needs of children living in foster care since 2004

关于我们

The Kids to Love Foundation has grown to become a lot of things since it began in 2004 in founder and CEO Lee Marshall’s garage. Since then, Kids to Love has served hundreds of thousands of children living in foster care, putting clothes on their backs, getting Christmas presents under the tree and giving them scholarships for the next steps of their education. Kids to Love also operates Davidson Farms, a foster home for girls, the Whitaker Cottage Community for girls aging out of foster care, and our own licensed Child Placing Agency. It is also home to KTECH, a private school that offers job training in manufacturing, robotics, and more to young adults and people looking to make a career change. Through our wide variety of programs, Kids to Love is able to reach out and wrap loving arms around children through every step of their time in foster care.

This may look like a messy playroom to you, but to our therapists, it's a room full of progress. They may have to clean up our therapy rooms after a session with one of our kids, but these play sessions are a vital part of the trauma therapy they do every day. This is part of how they heal, and that's more than worth 10 minutes of picking up toys. ?? #mentalhealth #traumatherapy

Our Clinical Director and Equine Therapist Jenni got a chance to speak this week at the Alabama Association of Drug Courts Professionals Conference in Orange Beach! Jenni spoke about our Equine Assisted Psychotherapy program, explaining how it works and why it's effective in treating trauma in adolescents and adults. We love spreading the word about the good work our equine therapy team is doing every day!

Today is a big day for Kids to Love Founder and CEO Lee Marshall, MSW, TS – it's graduation day! Lee walked across the stage today at Walden University to receive her Master's of Social Work with an embedded Trauma Certificate. She graduated summa cum laude with a 3.9 GPA! Lee decided to pursue her master's degree because of the opportunities it would open for her to meet the needs of children in foster care on a deeper level. Her passion and purpose is to break the cycle of foster care, reaching beyond short-term solutions to long-term success for our kids. "My life was meant for this," Lee said. "God doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called. Earning my Master's degree in social work is another way of fulfilling His call on my life to serve children in foster care." We're so excited for Lee, as she's worked tirelessly and put in long hours to get this degree. It's not easy running a nonprofit that serves thousands of children in foster care, and she puts in long hours to make sure our kids have everything they need to succeed. Piling coursework on that has meant a lot of sleepless nights and stress. On top of all that, she still finds time to be a loving wife and mother. Congratulations Lee!

The dream and the reality are getting closer! The facade is going up on our new 17,000 square foot facility that will house the Smith Family Wellness Center, home of the Grant Hill Trauma Team, the Isenberg Center for Education and Innovation, and our expanded Curtis Cares Center! This facility is going to allow us to serve more children in need in so many ways. It's coming together fast, and we can't wait to get inside and get to work!
