We are expanding our reach, advocating for policies that support child care affordability, and working to create sustainable solutions that ensure every child gets the care and early education they deserve. The pandemic caused businesses to scale back, and child care centers in Washington were no exception. Between 2019 and 2022, 176 child care centers closed their doors, leaving families with fewer options for accessible, high-quality care. While this number is slowly changing in major parts of our state, many counties are still struggling to find affordable solutions that meet the needs of working families. At Kids Co., we are committed to ensuring that every family has access to high-quality child care, regardless of income. We are working to address the economic challenges faced by child care providers and to create sustainable solutions that support children, parents, and our communities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, child care and preschool costs have risen significantly since January 2020, with a 6% increase just since September 2023. The average cost of center-based infant care for families already accounts for 8% to 19% of the Area Median Income (AMI), and this percentage continues to grow. These rising costs affect not only families but also society as a whole. 2025 presents an opportunity for us to address these challenges. By uniting as a community, we can work with city officials and council members to implement policies that alleviate the strain on young parents and families. We stand firmly with families in the fight for fair, equitable, and accessible child care for all. Together, we can make a difference. #KidsCo #Preschool #WashingtonGives #KidsCoWA #ChildCareMatters #EarlyLearning #ChildhoodJoy Source: https://lnkd.in/gN6Qwbx2
