KID Museum joined the crowd gathered at the Greater Washington Community Foundation's Celebration of Giving to honor Bob Buchanan as 2024 Philanthropist of the Year. Bob spoke about the importance of feeling lucky in this life--lucky to have relationships with wonderful people and lucky to be involved in meaningful causes and organizations creating good in the community. KID Museum certainly feels lucky to have Bob involved in our work. You inspire us.
关于我们
KID Museum is our region’s pioneering experiential museum and educational makerspace. We foster the “Mind of a Maker” in kids and youth, empowering the next generation with the skills to invent the future. We see the world as full of promise, potential, and possibility. We envision a bold future where there are pathways for every young person to engage in the hands-on, transformational learning and exploration that unlocks new opportunities. We work everyday to make this vision a reality. With a focus on engaging populations that are traditionally underrepresented in STEM, our programs build economic opportunity and help diversify the talent pipeline of the future.

KID Museum is delighted and grateful to be one of the 2024 Energy to Educate grant recipients! Constellation's support of Invent the Future means more middle schoolers will be able to participate in the innovative semester-long program that asks students to design a solution that improves life on our planet.
We’re proud to announce our 2024 Energy to Educate grant recipients comprised of 20 STEM- and energy-related projects reaching more than 12,000 students from middle school through college. Since its inception in 2010, Energy to Educate has provided nearly $6.5 million in grant funding, empowering students to dive headfirst into STEM learning through experiences that will inspire them for years to come.

It's been 10 years since KID opened its doors at the Davis Library in Bethesda. We have reached more than 400,000 individuals, served more than 350 schools, and expanded access to high-quality, hands-on STEM learning. Last week's Makers' Ball was a chance to celebrate (even the drinks required a maker's touch!) and to look ahead to even greater impact in our next decade. You can help expand access to our innovative and effective programming so all kids can see themselves in STEM: https://lnkd.in/etytk7hf

Last Friday, more than 160 students took over KID Museum for our Middle School Maker Night! It was amazing to watch these young creators wire their own glowing wands, create controllers for video games, paint with light, customize key chains in the woodshop, spend time with friends, and eat so many pizzas we lost count. This amazing night was made possible by AEOP Internships and Fellowships. KID is also grateful for the support of Montgomery College. If your middle schooler missed the fun, we have another one coming up on December 6: https://lnkd.in/dMCXCxP5

Students are now well into the fourth “normal” school year post pandemic, but so many of us are seeing that our kids are still struggling. Struggling with their mental health, with their connection to school, and with finding reasons to feel hopeful. In this edition of Futurist, KID Museum Founder and CEO Cara Lesser examines the ways we can help students go beyond academic recovery and find ways to thrive again. In the programs we offer at KID, we focus on learning that allows for choice and self-direction, helps students see the purpose and relevance of their studies, and builds confidence. We see everyday the difference it makes for students. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eMYyXyav
