Launching ThinkrDerm amid the most passionate and astute innovators in dermatology was the highlight of the one-year mark of ThinkrBelle. Fifty passionate stakeholders from medicine, #HealthTech, #Biotech, #PatientAdvocacy and Canada's Tech Ecosystem joined to learn about two formidable #CanadianStartups: Noa Therapeutics and Skinopathy. We networked, ignited new ideas and threw some serious pixie dust around. Every person in our room last night expressed a deep desire to innovate and transform the world of person-centric healthcare to help people achieve control of their health journey. Both of these companies have soared in different ways in only a year. To name a few accomplishments: NOA achieved an oversubscribed round of investment in a very difficult investment climate. Skinopathy is achieving #ReponsibleAI in ensuring that their AI is trained on different skin colours ...and both were recognized this year as Canada's top-20 startups as ranked by CIX Summit, with Skinopathy representing Canada at the world cup stage in #SiliconValley in October. We were reminded that it's never about the tech, and always about the people. It's the WHY and the passion that founders bring to their innovations, combined with the people they surround themselves with, that makes-or-breaks a tough journey in a sea of startups. These founders are fierce and purposeful. Carla Spina PhD shared with us the story of her sister's health prompted the inception of Noa Therapeutics. Dr. Colin Hong explained a powerful story of how he and Keith Loo started Skinopathy to address the grave situation with #MultipleMelanoma taking multiple lives during the pandemic.
