KGW staffers had a listening session today with representatives from two important local organizations, The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and YWCA Clark County. The topic was how to understand and report on survivors of trauma. It was a candid conversation that touched on the perspectives from the two organizations as well as insight from Blair B., who has covered Portland's homeless crisis for the past three years and now anchors 'The Story.' KGW news anchor David Molko moderated the panel discussion. We appreciate the work of so many in our community that helps survivors of trauma.

What an amazing day volunteering at Rose Haven in Northwest Portland! Our group of 13 volunteers from KGW helped the nonprofit put together more than 150 gift bags for its annual Adopt-A-Family event, where families in need are paired with donor families who provide gifts. It was such a great opportunity to not only give back but learn about the outstanding work Rose Haven does. The organization operates a day shelter and community center for women, children and gender non-conforming people. Thank you, Rose Haven for having our KGW team of volunteers!

We announced it on the show Friday, but in case you missed it... I'm leaving The Story and KGWTV at the end of the year. Its been an amazing time working with talented professionals here. Nathan Vasquez, the incoming Multnomah County District Attorney offered me the communications job there and I could not say no. I like his ideas and want to amplify them and the work the folks at the DA's office do everyday. I've lived in Portland and Multnomah County for 30 years. I want to be more directly involved in helping the community return to the place we all love. My last day at KGWTV is December 17th. I've been here 34 years. Its been the honor of a lifetime to bring you the news.

Two of our FANTASTIC producers Vanessa Negrete England and Hannah Zhihan Jiang were honorees at the Partners in Diversity Say Hey! event at OMSI this past week. Partners in Diversity introduces professionals who have moved to the area in the last few years on stage, and gives opportunities to connect and network with others. Vanessa and Hannah did a great job representing KGW!
