Blue Origin’s New Shepard vehicle launched into space this morning, carrying Morgantown native Emily Calandrelli on board. Known as “The Space Gal,” Emily was one of six crewmembers on this historic mission, marking Blue Origin’s ninth space tourism flight. In just 10 minutes, the crew experienced weightlessness and had a chance to see Earth from space.?Not only is Emily the 100th woman to travel to space, but she’s also among the first from West Virginia to do so. Big news from Kent State University!???Recently, they launched the Digital Engineering & Design Center for Space Applications (DEDC Space@Kent), a major milestone for the region's aerospace and defense industries. Funded by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing & Machining (NCDMM) and in collaboration with the The University of Texas at El Paso, this initiative equips students with essential digital engineering skills to meet national demands in aerospace. ?
