Thank you Sony Pictures Entertainment for inviting us to the Sony lot, alongside local students from just keep livin Foundation, for a screening of The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story. An important reminder to us all to celebrate #TheHeroWithin.

We’re incredibly honored that this father-son duo chose to support the Kevin Love Fund through their half-marathon. They raised and donated over $3000, directly contributing to the global expansion of our free mental health curriculum. We love seeing our community come together, move their bodies, and support our mission. If you or someone you know has a race or walk-a-thon coming up — or if you simply want to raise money for a good cause —?visit https://lnkd.in/gDuwRAFf and follow the three easy steps to get started.

“I’ve learned how interconnected mental health is with everything else in life – your relationships, your physical health, your career, even your sense of purpose. It's not something that you just ‘fix’ and move on from. It's something you constantly have to work on, like your physical fitness.” -- Kevin Love for PEOPLE Magazine | PEOPLE.com.

We were honored to be part of Mental Health Service Day at Ada Merritt K-8 in partnership with the Miami Dade Department of Mental Health and Student Services! Middle school students connected with valuable mental health resources, met “Goofy” the emotional support dog from the Miami Dade Police Department, and explored mental health resources from a variety of community-based organizations. At the Kevin Love Fund table, students created music playlists and learned about the way music can support their mental health. The activity was adapted from the Kevin Love Fund mental health curriculum. If you would like to bring our free, evidenced-based mental health program to your school, reach out to us at kevinlovefund.org

Our teaching artist, Cathyana Marcel, led a keynote presentation recently at the Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits highlighting our evidenced-based methods for building community and belonging in the workplace. The experiential session drew on research on the value of intentional vulnerability and methods for responding to colleagues with empathy. Cathyana helped participants apply strategies to create stronger connections with colleagues while also leading them through a creative writing reflection activity. Executive director of the Louisiana Alliance for Nonprofits Jill Roshto explained, Cathyana Marcel’s keynote presentation, “Everyone is Going Through Something,” at the 2024 Conference for Louisiana’s Nonprofits was thought-provoking, emotional and encouraging. Cathyana’s willingness to share her own personal story encouraged others to think and share their own challenges and created an atmosphere of belonging for the participants at their tables. The nonprofit working world is hard and our leaders often put their own self-care last and Cathyana’s presentation reminded participants of the importance of being thoughtful, mindful and sensitive to ourselves as well as to our colleagues and those we serve.

We were so honored to collaborate with the Sarah Shulze Foundation and Katie Saves for the 2nd Annual Together For Mental Health event earlier this week, and for the opportunity to preview our new student-athlete focused lessons that we'll be releasing this fall. We are grateful to the incredible speakers and athlete panelists for being vulnerable in sharing their stories. We know that vulnerability is a superpower that can shift the culture around mental health. We also want to thank the partnering organizations for sharing tools and resources that we could take home to support our mental wellness. At the event, Kevin Love virtually shared his story and the mission of the Kevin Love Fund, highlighting our curriculum as a free resource for any school, team or nonprofit across the globe!?

Today is World Mental Health Day, and it also marks a huge milestone for The Players’ Tribune! ?? For this Forbes article, I had the pleasure of interviewing Sean Patrick Conboy and Kevin Love. In celebration of their 10th anniversary this month, they’ve launched their first-ever coffee table book, I’ve Got a Story to Tell, in collaboration with ASSOULINE. This book highlights incredible journeys, including stories of resilience and mental health, like Kevin Love’s powerful account of overcoming a panic attack during an NBA game.?His experience is part of what prompted him to found the Kevin Love Fund. Since 2014, The Players’ Tribune has redefined how athletes share their stories—making space for vulnerability and conversations around mental health. When Kevin Love opened up about his struggles with mental health in The Players’ Tribune six years ago, he had no idea the movement it would create. In 2018, he established the Kevin Love Fund — a non-profit organization that works to inspire people to live their healthiest lives by creating equity between mental and physical health. In honor of #WorldMentalHealthDay and the global launch of our book, ??’???? ?????? ?? ?????????? ???? ????????, The Players’ Tribune and ASSOULINE have made a donation to support Kevin's work. Together, we are committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. ??

Immense gratitude for this group, who joined myself and Sean Feeney to support both the Kevin Love Fund and the Food Education Fund last week. I'm so incredibly proud of the work our teams have collectively done together - and the shared vision of a world where mental health is openly discussed and compassionately understood. It was truly amazing to be surrounded by friends who have supported not just me, but the dreams we all share to remove the stigma around mental health issues. With the donations from the evening, it helps to keep our evidence-based mental health curriculum free, and allows us to continue expanding globally, with one of those 1,000+ partners being the Food Education Fund. Thank you to Related Companies, Major Food Group, and LDV Hospitality for their sponsorship of the event -- we are so grateful.
