Last week, a group of first- and second-year ixD students—led by faculty member + principal design strategist?Melanie Kahl—embarked on SpringForward, an alternative spring break experience. This program invites students to explore an array of potential futures through immersive experiences in the NYC design community.?? Through in-person site visits to?Public Policy Lab,?The New York Times, and?Kettle, students were able to see a range of professional contexts in action. ? Virtual coffee conversations with service designers, researchers, and product designers at companies like?Figma?and?Snap Inc.?gave students additional insights into the current landscape of the industry. ??
