In response to the President sharing an article featuring an upside down pink triangle crossed out, Keshet President & CEO Idit Klein was quoted in USA TODAY: “Such actions are frighteningly reminiscent for both LGBTQ+ people and Jews of our long histories of persecution, which have included tactics we're seeing today, such as scapegoating, book bans, destruction of information access, and control/confiscation of identity documents like passports.” Read more of Idit’s comments and the full article: https://lnkd.in/ewggTUA3

"At a time when our world feels almost irreparably broken, when liberation and the joy it brings feels impossibly far off, Purim is a celebration and a reminder of the fact that liberation one day will come, and that it might come just as quickly as we have descended into the current position in which we now find ourselves." Keshet Associate Director of Youth Programs, Amram Altzman, reminds us that Purim is a time of joy, even in the face of impossible odds, and indeed it’s our obligation to take strength from celebrating our LGBTQ+ Jewish identities. #ICYMI: Keshet President & CEO Idit Klein joined Michelle W. Malkin of It's Who You Know! The Podcast, along with Dori Kirshner of Matan Inc, Aliza Kline of OneTable, and Jodi Bromberg of 18Doors, for a candid conversation about moving on. All four women have made the decision to step down from their leadership roles at their organizations, not to retire but also without a clear next step in their careers. These Jewish women leaders each reflected on their tenures and offered advice to those looking to follow in their footsteps. Idit shared: “If you are a young leader who is starting to build an organization, do not assume that you do not deserve a reasonable salary. That was a mistake I made. Particularly in the social justice world, often there are these messages that because our missions are so vital or so holy, we should just be grateful to get to do this work. It is exactly the opposite. Because this work is so vital and holy, we need to be sustained in that work. That means our organizations need to adopt sustainable commitments to staff.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/dbPkxfPa
