?? Kernel has just published a study in Imaging Neuroscience from The MIT Press that describes our Flow2 technology for measuring cortical #brain metrics. ?? The underlying technology combines time domain functional near-infrared spectroscopy with diffuse optical tomography to allow for capturing absolute oxygenation metrics over the whole cortex. Something no other neuroimaging system can do! ?? This paper describes how to produce brain activity maps like this using a Flow2 headset with 2 mins of setup time. Today, after the Neurotechnologies Plenary Session, attendees were treated to a series of rapid-fire presentations on emerging topics in #neurophotonics! Session chairs Shy Shoham and Anna Wang Roe invited six authors to give overviews of their #PhotonicsWest technical presentations. Mingjun Zhao, NYU Langone Health, discussed the comprehensive optimization of interferometric diffusing wave spectroscopy and shared preliminary results from clinical measurements in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit. Katherine Perdue, Kernel, shared Kernel’s new modular system for time-domain functional near-infrared spectroscopy. Siyuan Rao, Binghamton University, introduced a stretchable, fatigue-resistant hydrogel-based fiber-optic technology for optogenetic modulation of peripheral nerves in mice during sustained locomotion. Lamiae Abdeladim, PhD, University of California, Berkeley, presented the first two-photon holographic mesoscope for causally probing inter-areal computations. Mamadou DIOP, Western University, presented his team’s work on a cost-effective neonatal cerebral oximeter for use in low-resource settings. Haowen Zhou, Caltech, discussed recent work on single-shot 3D imaging with QuadraPol point spread function and neural fields. Thank you to all of the invited speakers!
