loving our Storytime at the Park. Our Blue Zones Project - Bakersfield in partnership with NAMI KERN COUNTY CHAPTER.
Beautiful things happen when a community comes together. There's no better example than our Story Time at the Park Moai we're hosting with KERN LITERACY COUNCIL and NAMI Kern County. This event series launched a couple weeks ago and it's been heartwarming to not only see families enjoying one of the city's oldest parks, but also connecting in a new way by exploring new books and engaging activities. If you're looking for family-friendly activities this weekend, put this one of your list. It meets every Saturday through December 14, from 1-3 p.m., at Heritage Park. Find out more details at https://lnkd.in/g9DHUUww. Programming like this would not be possible without the support of our sponsors Adventist Health Central California Network, California Resources Corporation and The City of Bakersfield. #Connect #MoveNaturally #Downshift #LifeLongerBetter ?? Highly effective people and operations leader invested in the growth and development of others and making positive impact on community well-being.
Consistently inspired by Karina Funez, MPH’s passion for policy and system changes that positively impact a community she grew up in. I love that Karina threw in a personal piece to her speech today sharing her memories made at Heritage Park. ?? Today’s ribbon cutting at Kern County’s unveiling of all the amazing amenity upgrades and additions to a well loved neighborhood park on the Eastside was the second in the Love Your Park Campaign series. Very excited to celebrate with North of the River Recreation and Park District next month! ?? Heritage park is also home to the very first storytime moai launching this Saturday 1-3 p.m. I’m so excited for this partnership with KERN LITERACY COUNCIL . ?? We hope to see many families there enjoying a story, walking, connecting, and reactivating a space that has been the heart of so many community members’ memories. ?? Did I mention you get FREE books for kiddos and adults?! ????
Great speech today, Karina! ?????? Blue Zones Project - Bakersfield

KERN LITERACY COUNCIL is so excited to be able to support Kern County Department of Human Services and its families.
Today, our Children's Visitation Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the collaboration with Kern County Literacy Council. Thanks to the Kern County Literacy Council, a book vending machine will be stocked with free books for the children who visit the center. The aim is to encourage children to love reading and promote positive family engagement. Once again, we express our heartfelt gratitude to the Kern Literacy Council for their generous donation!
