Our very own Senior Director of Provider Management, Amisha Pannu, participated in CSUB’s Women in Service and Enterprise (WISE) speaking event as a panelist! Amisha had the opportunity to share insight on being a woman in management, her success as a leader, and advice for those beginning their careers. One of the challenges Amisha addressed, as a woman in management, was gender bias and its effect on work-life balance. Amisha said, “[As women] we have to put in extra time in our professional life to be successful in obtaining leadership roles, such as taking on additional projects and responsibilities to gain visibility. This may seem like an effective strategy for career growth, but it creates challenges in maintaining work-life balance.” She also offered advice for those who want to advance their career. She recommended for people to build a strong network of mentors, seek opportunities to continue learning, use feedback as a tool to grow, and to set clear career goals and objectives. Amisha also shared that her greatest success as a leader has been “creating an environment where collaboration, trust, and individual growth are prioritized.” She has committed herself to supporting the growth and development of others and takes pride in motivating others to reach their goals.

Kern Health Systems, known as Kern Family Health Care, was established in 1993 as a managed care health plan, and is the largest health plan in Kern County. Kern Health Systems is committed to providing quality health care to our members.
