Kern Energy CA is thrilled to announce our first-in-kind project, integrating existing infrastructure with Claire Technologies’ hydrogen storage and release system and HyAxiom, Inc. hydrogen-powered fuel cells; this innovative venture will generate up to 3 MW of zero-emission electricity and advance hydrogen storage, utilization, and decarbonization at our refinery. The California Conference for Women delivered big for a few of Kern’s team members—challenging, uplifting, and reminding them of the growth (both personal and professional) that comes from taking risks, embracing change, and sometimes, knowing when to pause. Simone Biles captured this power of reinvention perfectly, stating, "Sometimes you just need a break. I think that's why my career has been so good." She emphasized that longevity and success come from prioritizing well-being. Investing in therapy, rest, and joy isn’t a weakness—it’s what allows individuals to show up, perform at their best, and win a gold medal (or 4)! The undeniable force that is Jane Fonda encouraged everyone to keep questioning, learning, and growing. Team Kern saddled up for a good time at Garden Pathways' State of the County event, hosted by Mayor Karen Goh! The event highlighted the impactful work being done to empower the at-risk youth and adults in our community—tackling the root causes of societal challenges—by providing a wide range of mentorship and educational programs to help them develop the essential skills and confidence needed for success. We're proud to support local organizations, like Garden Pathways, who are investing in the future of Kern County—one person at a time.

The room was absolutely electric as Chairwoman Leticia Perez delivered the State of the County Address, celebrating achievements and outlining a bold vision for the future of Kern County: one where businesses and communities thrive. It was exciting to hear about projects on the horizon, from California’s first permitted carbon capture project (kudos to Carbon TerraVault for this groundbreaking milestone!) to the highly anticipated opening of The Hard Rock Hotel later this year—bringing world-class luxury, amenities, and entertainment to Kern County. Kern Energy CA is proudly adding to our region’s accolades by advancing a hydrogen and energy storage solution that leverages innovative new technology and existing infrastructure. This first-of-its-kind decarbonization initiative will reduce our environmental footprint while enhancing operational efficiency—an investment that will further cement Kern County as California’s energy capital.
