Kern Community Foundation staff Aaron and Thomas recently visited Kern River Valley to check on Borel Fire recovery efforts and review projects funded through the Foundation. Kern River Conservancy received these grants and demonstrated the progress made with support from the Borel Fire Relief Fund and Upper Kern Fisheries Enhancement Fund. Kern Community Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to United Way of Central Eastern California (UWCEC) to assist families displaced by the Borel Fire. The support will focus on providing essential relief and recovery items. This grant was made possible by the Disaster Relief, Recovery, and Resilience Fund at the League of California Community Foundations through Kern Community Foundation. It is part of a broader effort by Kern Community Foundation and its partners, who have contributed $51,650 in direct relief and recovery for the Borel Fire.
