Congratulations to Kerriann Greenhalgh and the team at KeriCure Medical for recently reaching a significant milestone in the development of another one of their stellar products. KeriCure's biotechnology wound care product, Field Shield Wound Dressing, has received clearance from the FDA, capping a three year process to bring a new product to market.
“Field Shield is the first multi-use spray on wound dressing of its kind, combining both pain management and antimicrobial effectiveness, which significantly contributed to the extended review period," explained Dr. Kerriann Greenhalgh, Founder, CEO, and CSO of KeriCure Medical. "Our team is thrilled that our perseverance has paid off and we can now offer this revolutionary product to enhance the effectiveness of military and emergency medical care for better healing with fewer complications."
KeriCure is a remarkable success story from the Corridor's innovation ecosystem. The intiital product was developed while Dr. Greenhalgh was working on her PhD in chemistry at USF; it was inspired when her husband suffered a dangerous infection from what should have been a minor wound. She's since developed a series of wound care products for both humans and animals.
Over her 13 year journey of building the company, KeriCure is a great example of how various research and development programs can help support an innovative idea, including the Corridor's Matching Grants Research Program, which pairs industry with university research capabilities, and federal DoD SBIR/STTR Program Office and U.S. Small Business Administration programs. No one explains the journey better than Kerriann herself, click on the video to learn more about her story and KeriCure's. mission as a company.
