Thank you to everyone who joined us at Corneatopia this past Saturday! It was truly an honor to gather with individuals who share KeraLink International's passion for supporting those affected by corneal blindness. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.

KeraLink International's CEO, Michelle Bockman celebrated a birthday this past Monday. In recognition of her special day, we would like to share Michelle's personal eye health journey. Michelle discovered her own eye health issues just as she prepared to lead an organization fighting corneal disease and blindness. While traveling, she suddenly lost vision in one eye, later learning she had Central Serous Retinopathy. In a twist of fate, her new role led her to an early skin cancer diagnosis in her other eye. Michelle’s journey has strengthened her commitment to KeraLink's mission, reminding us all of the importance of eye health and access to care. November is recognized as Eye Donation Month. Here are three helpful facts about cornea donation: 1. One donor can restore sight in two people. 2. Everyone is a universal donor of corneal tissue, regardless of blood type, eye color, age, or eyesight. 3. 97% of all corneal transplant operations successfully restore the cornea recipient’s vision. Here are some quick tips: - Protect Your Eyes: Shield your eyes from flying debris by using safety glasses or goggles. - Maintain Distance: Encourage everyone to stay at a safe distance from the area where fireworks are being lit. - Supervise Children: Always supervise children in the presence of fireworks. Educate them about the potential dangers and the importance of safety. - First Aid Awareness: For minor eye injuries, rinse gently with water for 10-15 minutes and seek medical help. Do not rub the eye, as it may worsen the injury. Celebrate safely and enjoy a sparkling Diwali! ???
