Last week, the Office of Medical Cannabis spoke to the 2024-2025 Class of Leadership Kentucky at the State Capitol rotunda. The Office appreciates the opportunity to provide updates and answer questions about the medical cannabis program to Kentucky’s emerging leaders.

Next month, the Office of Medical Cannabis will be hosting webinars for physicians and APRNs to learn about the processes for becoming an authorized practitioner to provide written certifications for medical cannabis to qualified patients starting December 1. All Kentucky medical cannabis regulations are approved and effective! This morning, the Interim Joint Committee on Health Services approved the Office of Medical Cannabis’ final two ordinary regulations for business applications and licensing. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/dfvdcRsr

This morning, Executive Director Sam Flynn shared the latest information and updates regarding local governments and medical cannabis to county leaders and officials during the annual Kentucky Association of Counties Conference in Louisville. Yesterday, the Team Kentucky Medical Cannabis Workgroup Healthcare Subcommittee met to discuss the implementation of the medical cannabis program including the processes for authorizing practitioners and providing written certifications to qualified patients. We appreciate the subcommittee members for their continued support and participation!

A reminder that the Business Licensing Application Portal is currently open for safety compliance facility application submissions. Constituents in 53 counties and 53 cities across the state voted YES to allowing medical cannabis businesses to operate within their jurisdiction. Of the 106 total ballot measures, all of them passed. This map shows the current landscape for medical cannabis business operations in Kentucky.
