Last evening, Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams was invited to speak at the Kentucky Historical Society for a conversation on Kentucky’s Civic Health. In 2023, Secretary Adams led the charge to evaluate the “civic health” of Kentuckians, that is, how well do Kentucky’s citizens understand their government, how they engage, and the extent to which ours is truly a government by the people. Secretary Adams reflected on the assessment results and shared what that means for Kentucky’s future. Watch the video here, and share your thoughts on his findings: https://lnkd.in/gmSN4-CV

Help thank our Volunteer of the Month, Rosie Doerting! Rosie began volunteering for the Kentucky Historical Society in 2014. As a retired teacher, she has helped guide large groups through our various galleries. She has engaged patrons with our portable interactive stations where many families have received a take-home item they learned to create with Rosie! In the last month, Rosie taught young audiences how to make a cup and ball game during our Candlelight event, and participated in our Halloween on the Lawn event where she dressed as Colonel Sanders. When not interpreting our collections, Rosie has served as a Gift Shop Attendant and aided our Historical Resources team by digitizing photography negatives and documents. With a decade of service to our teams, Rosie continues to display commitment and adaptability to our programs with a positive attitude! Thanks Rosie, for your continued support!
