Enrolling in a registered apprenticeship program was the best decision Lydia Anderson said she ever made. She’s halfway through a three-year apprenticeship program with the International Union of Operating Engineers’ Local 181 where she is learning to operate oilers, steamrollers, paving machines and other equipment. “It’s not a job – it’s a career, and the benefits are great,” Anderson said. “I’m just a country girl, and I LOVE running heavy equipment.”? #TeamKentucky #apprenticeshipjourney #kentuckyjobs #NAW2024

Frankfort resident Brandilyn Proctor turned her passion for building things into a rewarding career after joining a registered apprenticeship program available through the Iron Workers Union. “I really thought that being a woman would hinder me at first, but I joined a brotherhood - a sisterhood - and I don’t let my gender hold me back,” Proctor said. “Now I have something in my life that my kids and family can be proud of.” #TeamKentucky #apprenticeshp #kentuckyjobs #NAW2024
