We were excited to attend the groundbreaking today with KBT members, R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC. as they begin The Bluegrass Multimodal Freight Improvement Project. CONGRATULATIONS on your continued success!! #WeMakeKYGO
We are pleased to announce the successful groundbreaking ceremony for the Bluegrass Multimodal Freight Improvement Project, hosted by R.?J.?Corman Railroad Group, LLC. This $12.3 million initiative, supported by a $7.4 million Federal Railroad Administration CRISI grant and an R.?J.?Corman match of $4.9 million, aims to modernize our railroad infrastructure, enhancing safety and efficiency while delivering significant environmental benefits. The project includes the construction of a rail-to-truck transload facility in Frankfort, rehabilitation of track between Frankfort and Lexington, and improvements to the main yard and transload facility in Lexington. These enhancements are expected to divert over 130,000 truckloads from roads to rail over the next 20-30 years, significantly reducing congestion and emissions and improving road safety. We extend our gratitude to all our partners for their invaluable support. We look forward to the positive impact this project will have on the transportation infrastructure in Central Kentucky.
