Located in West Michigan, Kent County is the fourth largest population center in Michigan. Covering 864 square miles, the County is home to more than 650,000 people. The County provides a wide and varied range of services to residents. The services include mandated services (i.e. law enforcement, correctional facility, justice system, public health, drain maintenance, general government, elections administration, equalization, and solid waste management) and discretionary functions (i.e. parks, zoo, airport, economic development, property description and mapping, and extension services). As public servants, our employees are committed to making a difference; they value the importance of their work. The excellence of their work is visible throughout our community.     From our Staff and Board of Commissioners at Kent County, we want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! In observance, all Kent County offices and Health Department clinics will be closed today, November 28 and tomorrow, November 29. The Kent County Correctional Facility will remain open with regular hours; however, all other services will be closed. All Department of Public Works services and facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 28. Disposal services and facilities will resume on Friday, November 29 but administrative offices will remain closed during this period. Additionally, there will be extended hours for commercial haulers at disposal facilities on Saturday, November 30: - Recycling Center * 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and - Waste-To-Energy * 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about and contact information for Kent County departments and offices, visit our website at www.accesskent.com.
